For the first time in four years, I’m going into the Holiday season with more knowns than unknowns.

The 2025 season gave us a feeling of the “old” DelMo with packed races and a continued focus on athlete satisfaction and excellence in execution. For the first time in four years, I felt better than I have about where we are going and more importantly about who I am in the grand scheme of things. We took chances in 2025, some worked out on a grand scale, and some did not. We expanded our offerings in more ways than I had imagined and proved (at least to me) that we are much more than just a ‘race’ company. We realized of all the things we can be the most effective offering we have is our experience and our willingness to learn, and more importantly, to step into the unknown. If there was a song that defined this past season it would be "Everything In Its Right Place" Radiohead.
Most of you know us for the Big 3: Escape The Cape Triathlon, Women’s Philadelphia Triathlon, and Atlantic City Triathlon. However, we are a part of over 45 other events in the region. Whether we are contracted to offer full event management services like Race For Every Child or American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon, or providing equipment and expertise to the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler and the Love Run, we are all over the region from Mid-March to early December. With a season of this length, there are going to be highs and ‘learnings’ throughout the year. Some days I find myself super-stoked for what’s ahead, and some days I find myself looking in the mirror and wanting to punch that guy in the face for jumping into this business without a net. BUT, I think we all feel like that at some point or another about anything we do. Here’s what I also know; no one cares about your struggles but you, seriously, admit it. So, I’ll spare you mine.
Here’s my Top 5 Best Moments of 2025:
- Blowing My Knee Out at Cherry Blossom 10 Miler. Yup, this is one of the best things to have happened from an organizational perspective. For the first time ever I could NOT do the physical work and I was forced to do the mental work. I had no choice but to create a plan that did NOT include me touching anything which forced me to delegate everything physical including driving to and from an event. The results were staggering; we were better.
- East Coast Water Sports at Escape The Cape Triathlon. Who? What? If you competed at the Escape The Cape Triathlon in 2025 you were a witness and beneficiary of the greatest marine support we have ever produced. If I would like to be known for anything, it’s that safety is our #1 priority. We utilize only the BEST ocean trained lifeguards for ETC and TRI AC. But, to make these lifeguards even better, we needed to outfit them with the proper tools and the #1 tool in water safety are PWC’s (Personal Water Craft, or otherwise known as waverunners/jetski’s). We had 16 on the water for Escape the Cape and it was the smoothest/best experience to date. This would not have been possible without the awesome peeps from East Coast Water Sports out of Cape May, NJ and we are super grateful for their availability and accessibility.
- Kid’s Triathlon in Philly. Ah, the small, but mighty Philly Kid’s Triathlon was exactly what I planned it to be. The greatest test race ever. Thirty-three youngsters toed the line on Saturday, July 10 to take part in history. They swam, biked, and ran in West Fairmount Park and acted as the perfect opening event for the annual Women’s Philadelphia Triathlon. From the beginning, we knew we were onto something and have made BIG PLANS for expanding this event in 2026 to be one of the biggest and best kid’s races in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- Moving the Awards Ceremony to Bader Field at the Atlantic City Triathlon. For the past 9 years, the Atlantic City Triathlon has started at Bader Field and finished on the boardwalk, or beach. Our awards ceremony would take place at the finish line, or very close to it. The ‘rub’ for the athlete was the trek back to Bader (transition) to collect their things, and then having to head back to the finish line for awards. Cumbersome at best. In 2025, we decided if EVERYONE needs to go back to Bader Field anyway, let’s just have the awards ceremony at Bader. The response from the athlete was overwhelming fantastic feedback!
- We’re in the music business. I have a confession; I’m addicted to investing in my company. In 2025, DelMo went all in and began providing 6ft security fence. The fence is NICE and geared toward EVENTS, not construction zones and our clients, and their customers, loved the product. We provided this service to the Broad Street Run, Philadelphia Marathon, Cherry Blossom 10 Miler, NYRR’s NYC Half, Brooklyn Half & NYC Marathon. But the most surprising place we deployed was the Palm Tree Music Festival in Long Island and the Diplo Run Club in Philadelphia. I never thought we would go beyond our borders of road/triathlon races and being able to branch out into a new realm was an eye opening experience.
- Bonus Best Moment. My crew. Some of them have been around for well over a decade, others were involved WAY BACK in the beginning and rejoined in 2025. If you’ve raced with us in the past you may not know their names, but you know their faces. They work hard and genuinely care about the DelMo Product. You cannot only see it, you can absolutely feel it. It’s what makes DelMo…DelMo.
- Best For Last because I Know I’m Lucky. My wife and children have had to adapt to a new reality of dad not always being around. This is not easy on any family and mine is no different. I miss out on roughly 30+ weekends a year at home. This is the nature of what I do. I’m NOT complaining, just recognizing we all do what we have to do in order to earn for our loved ones, but that doesn’t mean they have to like it. I’m grateful for their love, patience, and true understanding for they make my drive home the Best Part of my day, everyday.
2026 is on the horizon. I have a fresh set of scars and confidence. So do you. See you there.
Happy Holidays
