It’s amazing how cartoons can affect you…and they’re not even real, or..are they?
Thanks to you, the athlete, 2014 was an amazing year for DelMoSports and the entire South Jersey Triathlon community. In June, we witnessed The Escape the Cape Triathlon take off in popularity and be voted one of the best events in the US by Triathlon Business International and
YESTERDAY, Dec 31, we were named BEST TRIATHLON in the North East and Mid-Atlantic Regions by Competitor.com.
Later that month, the global triathlon series phenomenon, Challenge Family, staked it’s claim in the United States with the Inaugural Challenge Atlantic City presented by Caesars and proving to everyone that a 140.6 mile race IS POSSIBLE in New Jersey. Fast forward to August and the 11th Annual Tri the Wildwoods..wow, what a special race and our largest field in history complete with a new bike course, expanded kid’s race, and larger finish area on the beaches of North Wildwood. To finish the season, TRI AC featured it’s biggest field yet and the introduction of three new races: Paddle AC, Swim AC, and Kid’s DU AC races.DelMoNews, seriously? Yes, our monthly newsletter is going to be filled with awesome information about new races, nutrition, racing tips, volunteers, sponsors, and we’ll even have a section dedicated to negative emails we get from pissed athletes…yes, we said that. We believe you will find this as entertaining as it is informative.
OPB (Other Peoples Blogs)
This is going to be one of your ‘favoritest’ sections of this blog…because it refers you to the BEST of what is out there in the world of triathlon and life. In our humble opinion, NO ONE has this pegged better than the incomparable LAURA PYOTT of the MEDIOCRE TRIATHLETE. We STRONGLY URGE you too take a few moments to read here razor sharp insight on what it is that makes us tick and what we wish we were clever enough to say for ourselves.
DelMoStars: Meet the crew
We’re not always going to talk about our crew, but we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to formally introduce Kristy Thall. She’s highly visible come race day and her smile is as grand as her personality!
Kristy aka “KT” is the first official employee to come on board with DelMoSports. She’s a former Pre-School Teacher’s Aide and youth athletic coach at Crest Memorial Elementary School. Like her boss Steve, she grew up in North Wildwood, NJ. Went away to college in Florida studied Physical Education and Exercise Science, and is now back in her hometown roots helping produce First Class Triathlons!
Her title is Event Specialist; however she is quickly taking on the roll as registration liaison. Not to mention, she has to monitor two highly competitive triathletes in her office, it’s a constant battle of who’s faster and stronger, what is the cliff bar of the day? That sort of thing… Interesting.
Outside of DelMoSports Kristy enjoys catching up with her friends, fishing, boat rides, anything beach related, traveling, and not to mention spoiling the crap out of her rescue dog Jake. She is also a member of the Women of Wildwood “W.O.W.” which is an all ladies non- profit organization that gives back to the community, lends helping hands to the local schools and families and promotes a positive attitude towards the Wildwoods as a whole.
Volunteers
“I want you to want me.” Cheap Trick
“We Want You.” Uncle Sam
“Help Me Help You.” Jerry McGuire
Yes, all three quotes are applicable when it comes to volunteers.
We have many triathlon volunteer opportunities available for those who want to be an integral part of the events without competing.
