Meet the Wagner Family!
The Wagners are a beautiful family of 5. Mom (Angel), Dad (DJ), son (Danny) and daughter (Cecilia) participated in the 2020 Crest Best Run Fest - Sunset 5K. The youngest of the bunch ran the kid’s race at the 2019 Crest Best Kids Race but since the Kids Race was cancelled this year due to COVID, the family did not think he was ready for a 5K just yet! The Wagner family are seasonal residents to The Crest, and Educators in Delaware County. They began running to maintain a healthy lifestyle when they became parents. They are “go big or go home” type of people: Angel's first race was a Half Marathon (she ran with a student of hers), DJ’s was the 2019 Crest Best Baker Brother’s Challenge (5 Miler + 10 Miler). The kiddos love to surf and stay active. They are athletes and each are still developing in their respective sports. The two athletes (Danny and Cecilia) have goals of being on the Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol and they know they will have to be strong to be considered.
For the adults-
1. Have you done any other DelMo events besides Crest Best Run Fest?
Our family of 5 ran the Crest Best in 2019 in a few events! It was awesome, it gave our kids such a positive outlook on Racing and Race Day. The atmosphere was fantastic! DJ, Danny, and I did the 5 miler – Cecilia and Mikey did the kid’s run. This race was Cecilia’s first 5k. DJ has completed the 10 miler the past two years.
2. What other DelMoSports events interest you?
We hope(d) to run in the Mud Hen Event. We talk about a Tri, but it is just loose talk right now. If we keep following Steve Del Monte on social media it just might inspire us (we love his messages of grit and hard work).
3. What is your race mantra?
Angel: I wake up on Race Day with the mindset that I am going to run my own race. I have had different goals for every race I ran and if I overthink it, I won’t perform. If I walk a race, I walk it. It is more about training between races for me.

4. What’s your favorite workout song?
Angel: HOVA: Jay-Z
DJ: Eminem: Lose Yourself
5. What has been keeping you busy during Quarantine?
We moved during quarantine! When the kids couldn’t surf, they would run and sharpen their lacrosse skills. Together as a family we watch the Goldbergs.
6. Tell us three things we should know about you.
DJ is trying to keep up with the kids with surfing, we love staying active, and we really miss concerts! We enjoy watching our kids do what they love and we love living on Myrtle Road.
For the kiddos-
1. Did you have fun doing the Crest Best Run Fest 5K?
Danny: Yes, I really enjoyed the people cheering.
Cecilia: Yes, I also liked all the people cheering, it felt good crossing the finish line.
2. What is your favorite class/subject in school?
Danny: Math
Cecilia: Phys Ed
3. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

4. Who is your role model?
Danny: My Dad and Mom
Cecilia: Bethany Hamilton and Victoria G. (my surf instructor)
5. What are your hobbies?
Danny: Lacrosse (why I run) and Surfing
Cecilia: Gymnastics and Surfing
6. Tell us three things we should know about you.
Danny: I love my dog. I love surfing with my friends on Rambler Road.
Cecilia: I love to cook and surf too. I hope to be on the Beach Patrol someday.
Both kids love to paddle board at Sunset Lake.
