Brian is a local hero and Jennifer represents Team Betty.
Each month, we sit down with a DelMoSports athlete and ask them five questions.
Meet DelMo Super Couple, Brian and Jennifer Kane
1. What are your race goals this season?
Jennifer: To hit that podium again at a DelMo race and to beat Brian at an event...did I just say that out loud..LOL. My big goal I've set for myself for 2017 is to do a sub 5:30 at Ironman Atlantic City 70.3.
Brian: My goals for the 2017 season are to have fun, stay injury free, and set personal bests in all of the DelMoSports races including Ironman 70.3 Atlantic City. My expectations are to go sub 5hrs at IMAC70.3, and hit the podium throughout the summer.
2. Best racing advice?
Jennifer: Always have fun out there, enjoy the race journey.
Brian: The best advice for race day is to relax, be prepared for anything and everything: from wind to waves, flats and falls, heat and rain. When things happen and you're prepared for it, it's less stressful, and after all this is supposed to be fun, right?
3. Favorite pre-race meal?
Jennifer: It's usually a Peanut Butter sandwich, banana, glass of water and two cups of coffee.
Brian: I'm not normal.... Fact! The morning of Challenge Atlantic City/ 2014 140.6 I ate a WAWA Buffalo Turkey wrap and a Hash brown. Since then I've reigned in my careless nutrition plan to coffee and English Muffin and M&Ms.
4. What is your race mantra?
Jennifer: Woooohoooo... it's GO TIME!
Brian: It will all be ok in the end, if it's not ok....it's not the end. -John Lennon
5. Tell us three things we should know about you.
Jennifer: I've been a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for 16 years at Shore Medical Center...I love my job. I rarely watch television, but if I do, I'm guilty of being a Real Housewives Series advocate. I'm a huge believer in meal prepping. There is always healthy food ready to go in our fridge at all times.
Brian: My first triathlon was a full 140.6, been hooked ever since. I've been a firefighter and Beach Patrol lifeguard my whole adult life and just received the Medal of Valor for rescuing 3 drowning victims last summer before lifeguards came on duty. I'm the luckiest guy in the world to have 2 healthy, loving kids, and a beautiful wife who wants to beat me at every race!
