Meet this months volunteer highlight, Kaiya Reimer!
My name is Kaiya Reimer and I am a second-year student at Rutgers University studying Exercise Science! Growing up, I had the privilege of watching my mom become a triathlete and she always urged me to try it out. I completed my first triathlon when I was 12 years old and have been in love with it ever since. Now, as a 19-year-old, I am more involved in the triathlon community than I ever could have imagined, recently becoming the new President of the Rutgers Triathlon Team and co-Volunteer Coordinator!
1. Do you plan to race any DelMoSports events this season?
Yes! I am racing the Women's Philadelphia Triathlon in July!
2. Favorite DelMoSports volunteering experience?
My favorite DelMoSports volunteering experience was last year at IM70.3AC with my entire team. The weather was pretty bad, so we did our absolute best to make the environment as fun and as happy as possible for the racers!
3. Favorite DelMoSports event to volunteer?
My favorite DelMoSports event to volunteer will probably always be IMAC70.3. I have volunteered at that race for the past three years and will most likely keep going back until I actually decide to race it! However, my team and I are volunteering the upcoming MudHen Half Marathon, so who knows maybe that race will become a new favorite!
4. What is your race mantra?
I think my race mantra is "Dig Deep". Nothing too fabulous or fun but during a century ride I did over the summer, I was so mentally exhausted that those two words were the only words I could conjure in my brain for the last 20 miles. So now it's what I tell myself when I am tired and need to focus during a race.
5. Tell us three things we should know about you.
I just got back from racing Collegiate Nationals in Arizona, I am doing my first 70.3 this summer (Lake Logan Half), and I am running my first marathon in October!
