Greetings Athletes.
July is in full swing. For some of you this is old hat. The schedule has been planned out for months and you’re actually working on your 2017 to do list….yes, there are people out there who are doing this…don’t hate them, rather be the friend that makes sure they’re enjoying 2016 too:) Now, for the rest of us who are just getting into the sport, reality has firmly sunk in. Independence Day has come and gone. Your first triathlon is right around the corner and we’re going to see who’s been keeping up with their training plan and who has been putting it off until “after the 4th.” It’s ok. You can do this.
This newsletter is dedicated to the athlete that has taken that brave step and signed up for their first ever triathlon. You signed up for a triathlon because you were curious, or your friend suggested it to you, or you met Team DelMo Member John Torres and he wouldn’t stop talking to you until you did so! In any event, you’re on the registered list..and you don’t have a CLUE of what to do, what to expect come race day, how to train, what equipment you need, and you have never, ever, ever swam in open water before. RELAX, every single triathlete was also a ‘newbie’ at one time. Even US Olympian Joe Maloy had his first race right here in Cape May County some years ago and from that first race he figured out what worked…and what didn’t work (see his results from that race here).
DelMoSports is ALL ABOUT YOU…both the experienced athlete as well as the “newbie.” Our athletes, no matter how experienced, always check their egos at the entrance of transition and are always accommodating to those who seek out advice. And we love them for it. Well, we want to give back too. On Thursday, July 14th at 8pm, I will be doing an exclusive Facebook Live Video for Newbies via the DelMoSports Facebook page. During this time, you can ask any questions you have during the video and I will answer them to the best of my ability. This is a great opportunity for those of you who have questions about anything and everything regarding your first go around with triathlon, or with DelMoSports for that matter. Again, our mission is to give our athletes the greatest, most stress free experience as possible and we believe an interactive video can help alleviate some of those stressors.
Again, all of us were new to this sport at one time and we all remember what it was like. Your fellow triathletes and DelMo staff are here for you and we will do whatever it takes to make this experience a memorable one!
